Cubs Tawd Vale Day Out

Wednesday and Thursday Cubs enjoyed a day out at Tawd Vale in September where they build shelters, tackled a low ropes course and make homemade kites. They also had a go at making a fire where they eventually toasted some marshmallows. To end the fun day, they all tried bouldering for the firat time in the indoor climbing wall.

Easter Cub Camp 2016

The cubs had a great weekend away at Tawd Vale Campsite for easter. The weekend started off with a tour around the site after setting up tents and unpacking their sleeping bags and roll mats. Later on the friday they enjoyed a few campfire songs before going to bed. Their favourite song by far was the “I saw a bird” song which was sung by the Young Leader and repeated by the cubs.

Saturday morning went off to a great start with two members of the district coming in to do archery with the cubs. After two hours they had all mastered their technique and were getting better and better in each go. After archery the cubs lit fires and enjoyed some lovely burgers for lunch. In the afternoon the cubs set sail in their kayaks on the delph and enjoyed a few games on the water. They even managed to survive storm Katie and some torrential hailstone!

Sunday morning started with an easter egg hunt set up by the leaders and the cubs were desperate to find the eggs, looking everywhere they could for the hidden eggs. After lunch on Sunday, the cubs packed up and went home after a fun filled weekend. Well done cubs!

Cubs Fire Station Visit 2016

The cubs went to visit their local fire station to learn about what they do and to gain their fire safety badge. They really enjoyed it and were able to look inside the fire engine and roll out some hoses.

Cub Football ‘ Move Over Manchester City…..9th Ormskirk Cubs Football Team are here !! ‘

I am pleased to report that the cubs have been training hard ahead of the District 5a-side
competitions which are due to take place in February. We now have a total of 15
boys who regularly attend both training or league fixture games each Saturday

We first introduced the football training mornings, which are held at Edge Hill University, in
October and it is great to see the boys developing their game and having so
much fun at the same time.

Before the Christmas holidays we held some ‘Festive Football’ and some ‘Christmas Challenges’ as
part of the training which was such a laugh. Various Christmas related football
games were set up which included hanging large Baubles by tinsel to the goal
post and each of the players trying to kick them off. The Festive Football
ended with the Dads joining in for a quick kick around too……although it had
to be said that the boys outpaced and out-skilled the Dad’s by miles !!

I wanted to say a big thank you to the parents who have turned up, watched and supported the team
each weekend,

Neil and I really appreciate your commitment each weekend.

And so as we lead up to competitions, one last thing to say ‘ Move Over Manchester City…..9th Ormskirk Cubs Football Team are here !! ‘
